نامه پارسال من

زير قسمتي از اي-ميل من به دكتر منصوري است كه پارسال در تاريخ هفتم بهمن ماه 1385
نوشته بودم:

The aim of this weblog is to help the potential future members or
collaborators of IPM
(specially the present bright students)
to cope with the expectations that IPM has from them.
Well, to do so, my friends and I, as newcomers, first try to decode and
sometimes define for ourselves what these expectations are.
(At the moment such expectations are quite ambiguous which is a potential
source of tension.)
Your comments in this regard will be quite helpful both for us and others.

There is just one point that I am particular about.
The members and collaborators enjoy many facilities that most physicists
in Iran cannot even dream about. As a result, the standards we set for
ourselves must be far higher.
I think if we start criticizing
average physicists in Iran (which must be done in another proper
place) in this weblog about their typical shortcomings (the kind of which is
rare at IPM), it will be kind of self-spoiling which is destructive because
people at IPM will get the illusion that they are flawless.
I prefer to criticize ourselves here even though the physics community in
Iran, at large, may be concerned with other matters.
